|About Membership Fees|
The non-refundable fee is payable upfront. Application fees are determined on the length of time your recruitment business has been operational. Please note that if you application is unsuccessful, for any reason, this fee is non-refundable.
The stipulated criteria for membership are listed in the Checklist. These are non-negotiable and all applicants must ensure that they comply with each requirement. Membership criteria are reviewed, from time to time, and are based on legal and statutory requirements as well as those required by the APSO Constitution and Code of Ethical & Professional Practice.
Membership Subscription Fee
Subscription fees are calculated on the structure of your business and, depending on your company's expansion/contraction, may alter from year-to-year. All fees cover a 12-month period. Subscription fees are payable in full, in advance, in your first year of membership. From year two you may opt to pay the fees, via debit order, over a period of 2 – 10 months. A small administration fee will be levied if the direct debit option is taken up.
A Full Member is considered to be the Head Office of the business and includes the core recruitment activity of that business, i.e. Permanent Recruitment, Executive Search, Outsourcing/Contracting or Temporary Employment Services (TES)
If your company operates in more than one area of recruitment, i.e. Permanent Recruitment and Temporary Employment Services (TES), you are required to pay the additional annual section fee. This Section Fee is payable once per year and covers the Head Office and all branches.
The Branch Fee is levied on each branch operated by the member company. This includes any office that operates recruitment services, even ‘satellite offices' that are simply to collect timesheets for a national client. All branches must be registered with APSO in accordance with the APSO Constitution.
In order to better understand the membership base, APSO requests that members indicate the specific sectors in which they operate. There is no charge levied per sector and members may nominate multiple sectors. This information will be useful to clients/candidates who would like to search for specialist agencies in your area. Further, niche communication will be available to the various sectors.
Private Employment Agency (PEA) Certificate
This is a certificate issued to recruitment companies by the Department of Labour. It is compulsory, as per the Skills Development Act, for all recruitment companies to register with Department of Labour. There is no cost attached to registration. PEA certificates are issued after the Department of Labour has conducted a site visit and are renewal every 2 years. CIPC Annual Return
CIPC replaced CIPRO when the Companies Act came into effect in April 2011. It is now compulsory for all companies to complete an annual return with CIPC. More information can be found by visiting http://www.cipc.co.za/
APSO will not accept any company that operates from home unless, (a) you have a separate office set up professionally, i.e. in the garden cottage, or (b) you conduct your administration from home but have proof of a rented boardroom that is used for candidate interviews and client meetings. The APSO inspection visit needs to take place at the office from which you operate your interviews. If you are in doubt, contact the APSO Membership Officer on 0861 42 62 82 to seek clarity.
