The 2010 APSO National Conference promises to be even bigger and better than ever before. Following on the success of the last few years’ conferences in Gauteng, APSO has decided to split the conference over two days to ensure maximum value for money for those travelling from out of town as well as to ensure that each day is dedicated to educating a specific target group, i.e. managers and recruiters.
APSO has secured exceptional speakers, including an international recruitment specialist Antonia Macrides who will be joining us from Australia to share her global recruitment expertise.
International Speaker
Antonia Macrides is no stranger to APSO having worked for an APSO member, Ryans Personnel for several years as well as presenting at the 2006 APSO Conference held in the Drakensberg. She started her recruitment career in 1993 in South Africa but subsequently worked in London, Leeds and Melbourne. She has worked as an Executive Search Recruiter, a Generalist Recruiter and for eight years as a specialist in Strategic Procurement. With specialist purchasing knowledge, Antonia advises on talent acquisition strategies, strategic sourcing processes and tender documentation.
APSO supports members to RECRUIT
The conference programme has been designed to provide education, entertainment and the opportunity to network with fellow members to improve your resilience in a rapidly changing recruitment environment. The RECRUIT theme provides APSO with the platform to support members to be:
RELEVENT:
Does your business have the expertise and information to make you a recruitment partner to your clients with service offerings that are relevant to their market needs?
EMPOWERED:
Are your recruiters empowered through training and information to provide exceptional service to clients and candidates to ensure that they are seen as professionals?
COMPLIANT:
Are you abreast of the latest changes within the recruitment environment and how these impact on your ability to operate compliantly?
RESURGENT:
Does your business have the wherewithal to bounce back from a tough recessionary period and grow to new heights of professionalism?
UNRIVALLED:
Can you differentiate yourself from your competition? Do your recruiters have the necessary training to ensure that they can service your clients better than their internal HR department can in areas of recruitment and selection?
INFORMED:
Can your clients trust you to be able to guide them on the latest trends within the industry to ensure that they’re able to attract top calibre candidates and manage their human capital effectively?
THRIVING:
Despite the difficult economy, are you thriving as a result of the investment in your people, your brand and your business?
Who should attend?
APSO conference, as always, is open to all members – recruiters, managers and business owners alike – as well as non-members including agencies and internal HR professionals. With the two-day format, APSO has crafted the programme to ensure that all levels of recruitment professionals are catered for.
Day One – Thursday 9 September 2010 – is targeted at senior recruiters, managers and business owners who’d like to learn more about the strategic issues facing recruitment companies today. Topics include economics, value-positioning to procurement departments, future trends, leadership and the opportunity to engage in-depth with subject matter experts.
A new feature at this year’s conference will be Industry Round Table Discussions that has proved to be a success at international recruitment conferences. During this session, delegates will be free to move around between tables headed by various subject-matter experts including some of our esteemed speakers. Delegates will have the opportunity to raise burning issues, to learn from other delegates and to “pick the brain” of the expert on their chosen subject.
Day Two – Friday 10 September 2010 – is targeted at recruiters and any other staff members who are operationally involved in recruitment. Topics include selling exclusivity to clients, attracting top talent back to SA, managing recruitment & selection of disabled candidates, maximizing your referral network and sustaining excellence through balanced lifestyle.
As always with APSO conferences the day will be a mix of education, entertainment and of course the opportunity to meet new people, catch up with old friends and network.
Both days’ programmes are sufficiently different, yet complimentary, to allow for delegates who wish to attend both days. APSO has secured a great rate for accommodation at the Birchwood Hotel and conference packages will be available either:
