At the recent G20 Summit held in Russia, employment services were recognised to be a critical component of effective labour markets and a key stakeholder in the fight to reduce unemployment and create jobs!

Please find the link to the G20 Declaration that makes reference to effective labour market adaptability and effective employment services to improve matching of skills with employment opportunities.

Paragraphs 23-34 are devoted to employment and they underscore the commitment of the G20 leaders to quality job creation  and making labour market more adaptable and inclusive.

The G20 declaration stresses the importance of employability that can be enhanced through job-search assistance and training.

Finally, the Declaration mentions informal work, vulnerable groups and young people, which is consistent with the priorities of the Russian Presidency throughout the G20.

According to the International Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (CIETT), of which APSO is a member, this Declaration is a positive document for the private employment services industry as there is a direct reference to the need to effective employment services and the central role of job-search assistance and matching labour supply and demand.

CIETT intends to make use of the great content on helping young and vulnerable people enter the labour market and on reducing the informal sector, which will be useful for the CIETT Public Affairs activity and messages.

The next presidency of the G20 will be chaired by Australia and Ciett will continue to be involved in the G20 process.
